<image:title>BLOG - God Is A Girl Dad - I came across this phrase online a while back, “God is a girl dad.” At first, it sounded sweet, but over time, it started to mean something much deeper to me. In this season of my life, God has been revealing Himself as a good Father, one who knows me, nurtures me, and continues to show up for me in the most personal ways. I’ve always known Him as my Savior, the one who rescued me from darkness and, honestly, from myself. I’ve experienced Him as my Provider, making a way for me time and time again. I’ve known Him as my Protector, shielding me from seen and unseen dangers, some that I got myself into and couldn’t find my way out of. He’s been the Mender of broken hearts and the Healer of wounds I didn’t even realize were still open. He’s been my Peace, my Sustainer, and my Comforter in every storm. But this season feels different. For as long as I can remember, I’ve heard songs like “Good, Good Father” or read verses about God being our Father. Still, I never fully experienced Him as mine until now. With complex earthly father dynamics, this revelation hit in a way I didn’t know I needed.</image:title>

<image:title>BLOG - God Is A Girl Dad - God showing himself to be my Father hasn’t meant a season of endless blessings or always getting what I want. It’s been one of conviction and correction, of Him lovingly confronting my disobedience while covering me with grace. It’s been intimate and intentional, from answered prayers about the smallest things like getting my favorite spot in a workout class, to the bigger moments of career uncertainty where He reminded me that His timing is perfect and His plans are better than mine. He’s been teaching me surrender, showing me that when I let go of what I want, He’s already preparing something better. He’s been reminding me of where He’s brought me from and how He’s made me whole, even when the enemy tries to make me question that truth.</image:title>

<image:title>BLOG - God Is A Girl Dad - And then there’s the beauty of community. God has surrounded me with sisters who love deeply, support genuinely, and remind me why sisterhood is the best kind of hood. He’s teaching me that obedience is better than sacrifice and that there’s always something meaningful on the other side of “yes.” Some days, I feel lost or overwhelmed, but even then, He comforts me. He’s helping me choose myself, reminding me that He’s been choosing me all along. I’ve come to realize that my desire to please Him isn’t about perfection, it’s about love. He’s been gentle with me. Patient with me, and overly kind to me. He’s given me far more than I deserve, and even when I fall short, His grace still surrounds me.</image:title>

<image:title>BLOG - Unexpected Love Story: Me and Vancouver - As a self-proclaimed travel enthusiast and lover of culture, my recent trip to Vancouver revealed that I may have overlooked America’s international neighbor. I’ll admit, while Canada was on the destination list, it was never high on my list. I always imagined there were flashier, more exciting destinations. But a dear friend’s wedding brought me there, and in just four days, Vancouver made me a believer.</image:title>
<image:caption>I landed late Thursday evening with little expectation, but the moment I looked out from the condo with the city lights shimmering across the water, I felt that familiar travel thrill. The first night was simple: a stroll along the seawalk to Tap & Barrel for wings, pizza, and fries. Nothing fancy, but the atmosphere was lively, and the view set the tone.</image:caption>

<image:title>BLOG - Unexpected Love Story: Me and Vancouver - Friday was the wedding day, but before that, we explored a bit of the local food scene. We had breakfast at Hunnybee, where I devoured an egg and avocado sourdough sandwich. As someone who isn’t a huge breakfast fan, the sandwich overly delivered. For lunch, I gave in to my guilty international pleasure: McDonald’s. And let me just say, Canada does McDonald’s better. Clean service, fresh food, and they even had Fruitopia, a childhood favorite that evoked so many nostalgic memories. The wedding itself was stunning. An experience full love, laughter, and wine flowing in perfect pairings. It left me so grateful to witness it all.</image:title>

<image:title>BLOG - Unexpected Love Story: Me and Vancouver - Saturday was all about exploring. Coffee, shopping downtown at the Pacific Centre, wandering Robson Street, and of course, discovering hidden gems through conversations with locals. Vancouver radiates activity: runners at midnight, endless bike paths, and overall people embracing movement. But the highlight? Biking through Stanley Park. Renting bikes from Spokes, we rode from the park to the beach, soaking in mountain views and the salty air. At one point, a stranger helped push me up a hill (lol), and later, a mother and son guided us through detours. Those small kindnesses embodied Vancouver’s spirit and reminded me of the warmth of the city.</image:title>

<image:title>BLOG - Unexpected Love Story: Me and Vancouver - Our final stop was Cactus Club Café, where the food, drinks, and views were unforgettable. Ordering sushi, calamari, fresh bread with truffle butter, fish tacos, and truffle fries. Not a single bite was left behind. Sitting on the beach afterward, mountains behind me and waves at my feet, I felt both full and light. It was one of those sacred moments where the simplicity and beauty of it all expanded my heart.</image:title>

<image:title>BLOG - Honoring Women’s Voices: Five Must-Read Books for Women’s History Month</image:title>
<image:caption>1. Walk Through Fire: A Memoir of Love, Loss, and Triumph – Sheila Johnson Sheila Johnson, co-founder of BET and the first Black woman billionaire, shares a story far beyond success. Her journey reflects Langston Hughes’ famous words, “Life for me ain’t been no crystal stair.” Through trials, resilience, and faith, she embodies Romans 8:28—how all things work together for good. Her life reminds us that challenges aren’t meant to break us but to refine us. 2. Year of Yes: How to Dance It Out, Stand in the Sun and Be Your Own Person – Shonda Rhimes The mastermind behind Scandal, Grey’s Anatomy, How to Get Away with Murder, and Bridgerton shocked me with her honesty—despite creating some of TV’s most powerful characters, she was an introvert gripped by fear. In Year of Yes, she challenges herself to step outside her comfort zone, say yes to the unknown, and embrace life fully. Her storytelling brilliance shines through every page, making this book both entertaining and transformative. 3. Becoming – Michelle Obama My forever First Lady, the epitome of grace and resilience. In Becoming, Michelle Obama opens up about her journey—from the South Side of Chicago to the White House—revealing struggles, triumphs, and everything in between. Her story mirrors the experiences of so many Black women in America, making this book an essential read and a legacy I hope to pass down one day. 4. Finding Me – Viola Davis Viola Davis is a master of her craft, pouring raw authenticity into every role. In Finding Me, she shares her journey through poverty, struggles with self-worth, and the fight to heal. Her story is a powerful testament that it’s never too late to grow, to heal, and to step into the fullness of who you were meant to be. 5. All About Love – bell hooks One of my top five books of all time. Before reading All About Love, I hadn’t given much thought to what love truly means, how it manifests, or the ways it shapes our lives. bell hooks eloquently explores love in all its forms, making this book rich, thought-provoking, and a must-read. If you pick just one book from this list, let it be this one. Each of these books reveals different facets of the human experience, offering lessons that everyone can carry on their journey. Check out my Soul & Society Storefront: https://amzn.to/4boRzHQ to grab one or all of these books! Let me know which one speaks to you the most.</image:caption>

<image:title>BLOG - How Wine Tells a Deeper Story</image:title>
<image:caption>Wine has always fascinated me. Not just for its taste or prestige, but for what it represents—connection, history, and the kind of craftsmanship that stands the test of time. The more I learn about it, the more I realize how much it mirrors life. A bottle on the shelf is a finished product, polished and presented for the world to see. But what we don’t see is the process—the years of cultivating vines, the unpredictability of the seasons, the patience required to harvest at just the right moment. Then comes the fermentation, the aging, the delicate balancing act between time and technique. It’s an art. A process. A labor of love. And unless you take the time to understand it, you might never appreciate what it took to get there. People are the same way. We meet someone and form an opinion based on what’s in front of us—their appearance, their presence, the way they carry themselves. But just like wine, there are layers beneath the surface. There’s history, struggle, refinement. And when you take the time to ask questions, to be curious, to truly listen, a whole new world opens up. You start to understand the experiences that shaped them, and the resilience it took to become who they are. Maybe that’s why I love wine so much. It reminds me that depth takes time. That everything—whether a great bottle or a great relationship—requires patience, care, and a willingness to go beyond the surface. And that’s a journey I’ll always be excited to take. That’s also why I’m so excited to share my experience with IBest Wines, a Black-owned brand that embodies this same philosophy. Their mission, to blend wine, art, and culture while offering a portfolio designed for the modern-day wine drinker, feels both intentional and inspiring. Their wines, produced in the renowned Stellenbosch region of South Africa, reflect the richness of their origins. The red blend, a harmonious mix of Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, Petit Syrah, and a hint of Malbec, offers deep, bold flavors that I paired with a gouda cheese and look forward to trying with some lamb chops or crispy duck. Meanwhile, the white blend, featuring Chardonnay, Chenin Blanc, and Sauvignon Blanc, presents bright aromas of peach, apricot, a little lemon and would complement a creamy, white sauce pasta dish or some chargrilled oysters. I tried the white blend with a brie cheese and wasn’t a fan. However, with a medium ABV and a retail price under $30, iBest Wines are accessible for both the curious novice and the seasoned sommelier. I would definitely recommend it for personal indulgence or even as a gift recommendation. Beyond the wine itself, the story behind the brand makes me appreciate it even more. Founder Ingrid beautifully captures its essence, saying, “I hope to reach across cultures and customs to create a global conversation over a glass of wine about what it means to be human and to give love and light.” And with every sip, I feel the vision come to life. I purchased my bottles at my local Total Wines but they can also be purchased on their website at https://ibestwines.com/collections/all/wine. As always, let me know your thoughts and if you enjoyed the wine! Until next time!</image:caption>

<image:title>BLOG - Year 27: A Journey to Uganda and the Gift of Joy</image:title>
<image:caption>As I begin my 28th year, I find myself reflecting on the lessons and experiences of year 27. This time last year, I was in the village of Masaka, Uganda. My soul and spirit were longing for something deeper, leaving me feeling restless and anxious. Before embarking on my trip to the motherland, I had been fasting, and during that time, my body fell ill. I typically fast at the beginning of each year, but this time felt different. It was harder. I struggled to connect with God, to follow the food restrictions, to focus—I was simply struggling overall. At the time, I didn’t understand, but looking back now, I recognize that I was experiencing spiritual warfare. As I prepared for my trip to Uganda, I remember praying for God to meet me there, to experience Him, to grant me the sense of peace I had been longing for. And of course, He exceeded my expectations. From the moment I arrived in Uganda, I felt an overwhelming sense of peace, love, and gratitude. The family that owns the orphanage welcomed me with open arms, and the children were so loving, generous, kind, and full of joy. In a country facing economic hardships, they seemed to have discovered the true meaning of life—loving God, their community, and each other. It was an indescribable feeling. There was a lightness in my spirit I hadn’t experienced in a long time. I wasn’t concerned with the vanities that so easily consume us, I was simply grateful to be present, to be alive, and to be in the moment. On my actual birthday, I woke up and went to a cornfield to help harvest what they call maize. Acres and acres of land stretched before me, and as I worked, I saw firsthand the dedication and joy the people had in their labor. After about two hours, I was exhausted (lol), but they kept going, still full of energy and generosity. I was inspired. Later that evening, they threw me one of the best parties I’ve had in years. We played games, drank sodas, ate cake, and danced for what felt like hours. My soul felt light. I have videos, but I’ll spare you my embarrassing dance moves—for now (lol). It was in those moments that I was reminded of what truly matters. True joy and peace come from God. Contentment comes from above. It costs nothing to be generous, to give joy, and to love. The love of God transcends cultures and continents. Even now, we still keep in touch and pray for each other, and I look forward to returning. While this birthday may not be as extravagant, I know God has great plans for this year, and I can’t wait to take you all along for the journey.</image:caption>

<image:title>BLOG - A Story of Love, Community, and the Human Spirit</image:title>
<image:caption>It’s hard to pinpoint exactly when I fell in love with books and reading. Maybe it was the magic of the Scholastic Book Fairs we had every year in elementary school, or perhaps it was the summers when my mom would take me and my cousins to the local library for reading programs. Either way, my love for books has been a constant companion for as long as I can remember. In 2024, I read approximately 15 books, but one that truly stood out was The Heaven & Earth Grocery Store by James McBride. When I picked it up, I had no idea what to expect. I had seen it promoted as Barnes & Noble’s Book of the Year, and while I was familiar with McBride’s name, I hadn’t yet explored his work. But from the very first page, I was captivated. The writing was rich, the storylines were intricate, and the book carried an underlying message of hope and resilience that resonated deep within me. Without giving too much away, the novel delves into racial tensions, the power of doing good, and the universal desires that connect us all—love, acceptance, family, and community. It reminded me that we are more alike than we are different. That we fight to protect the people we love. That we long for belonging and seek to uplift those around us. And that, in the end, the love of community can overcome even the harshest realities. Living in America today, where everything feels politically charged and deeply divided, this book reignited my faith in humanity and the human spirit. McBride’s storytelling is masterful—his ability to weave together complex themes with such grace is truly remarkable. The book made me laugh. It made me cry. And when I turned the last page, I felt a profound sense of loss, not wanting it to end. But what lingered was the way it expanded my heart, how it reminded me why I fell in love with reading in the first place. In a world where media often amplifies division, this book reassured me to hold on to hope and to believe in the good that still exists. If you haven’t read The Heaven & Earth Grocery Store yet, I wholeheartedly recommend it. You won’t be disappointed. And when you do, let me know your thoughts—I’d love to hear how it resonated with you.</image:caption>
